We mitigate against constraints caused by historic discrimination or marginalization by actively and meaningfully engaging social groups traditionally underrepresented in development. We build sustainable, respectful partnerships with Indigenous communities that acknowledge Indigenous governance structures. We promote the rights of Indigenous Peoples and other minority groups (such as ethnic, religious, linguistic, or geographic minorities and displaced persons and migrants). We ensure staff and implementing partners respect the rights of Indigenous Peoples and minority groups and engage them as authentic partners. We address the systemic challenges and disadvantages faced by these communities and work with them through representative organizations, key leaders, and individuals as innovators and decision-makers to ensure their contributions are built into program design and program results.
