Integrated Health Supply Chain - Technical Assistance (IHSC-TA) Côte d'Ivoire Project

Project Dates: March 2017 - December 2020
By integrating the health product supply chain, patients in Côte d’Ivoire benefitted from critical health services.

USAID partnered with the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene in Côte d’Ivoire to build a health product supply chain system with end-to-end visibility that will serve as a model in West Africa. This investment significantly improved the availability of health products for HIV/AIDS, malaria, maternal and child health, and family planning. USAID’s Integrated Health Supply Chain – Technical Assistance (IHSC-TA) project provided technical assistance to strengthen Cote d’Ivoire’s health commodity supply chain and applied private logistics companies’ best practices to the public sector. The project also built capacity to support development of a competent, productive workforce led by local supply chain champions. These activities will advance the country to the next phase of health product security, enabling national actors to take ownership of an integrated and sustainable health product supply chain system.

Project Goals

  • Strengthened Côte d’Ivoire’s end-to-end supply chain
  • Built management capacity at the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene
  • Supported the collection and use of high-quality data for planning, decision-making, and problem-solving to fill essential gaps in the supply chain and better inform decision-making
