At the International Water Summit from January 15 to 18 in Abu Dhabi, our experts explore sustainability and effectiveness in the water and wastewater sector.

Part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, the International Water Summit is an opportunity for diverse stakeholders to come together to discuss water sustainability in arid regions. From January 15 to 18, Chemonics will join others in the field to explore innovations in the water sector.

Chemonics experts will lead and participate in discussions through two sessions during the conference. On Wednesday, January 17, Chemonics Senior Advisor Patricia Bakir moderates a breakfast briefing titled “Development of Sustainable Business Plans for the Water and Wastewater Sectors.” Taking place from 8:45 to 10 a.m. GST, the session provides insight into developing realistic business plans that also identify new technologies and innovations to enable adaptation and evolution in a rapidly changing world.

On Thursday, January 18, from 12:10 to 12:55 p.m. GST, Chemonics Senior Advisor Robyn McGuckin joins as a panelist in a second session, “Taking the Waste Out of Wastewater.” With representatives from Almar Water, Aqualia, the Abu Dhabi Sewage Services Company, and the Water Environment Federation, this session explores how authorities can optimize water conservation through efficiency and reuse.

During the conference, Chemonics will also share experiences from previous water projects in the Middle East, from Egypt to Jordan and more. Chemonics provides targeted technical assistance to make water services more resilient and sustainable, and has helped 1.5 million people gain access to sustainable water supply or sanitation services for the first time.
