Tunisia Tax and Customs Reform Pilot Activity (TCP)

Project Dates: October 2014 - August 2017
In 2014, Tunisia conducted its first free and democratic elections, a process that marked its smooth transition out of four years of political unrest but also highlighted the need for economic reforms.

Tunisia is in the middle of an economic transformation, the long-term success of which will depend on improving the country’s tax and customs systems. The USAID Tunisia Tax and Customs Reform Pilot Activity (TCP) supported this transition by working with government ministry personnel to develop tax and customs policies and administrative systems that will fuel economic growth. The project enabled the Ministry of Finance to more effectively develop and manage financial policies and systems. These efforts equipped the ministry to propose progressive changes that facilitated the implementation of reform that is both fair and transparent, a national priority.
