Biodiversity is a critical element of a healthy ecosystem that contributes to a community’s food security, health, livelihoods, and cultural identity. Given this critical link between biodiversity and human well-being, Chemonics focuses on empowering Indigenous peoples and local communities to lead conservation efforts, strengthening their rights and capacities, and ensuring their access to information to conserve terrestrial and marine biodiversity. Our projects incorporate theories of change to capture outcome pathways, rigorously collect data to monitor performance, assess progress, and incorporate feedback into effective adaptations to changing needs.
