News: Chemonics Sponsors Devex “Youth Will” Campaign

| 2 Minute Read

Devex's Youth Will campaign kicks off on March 3 and lasts all month. Chemonics is proud to join Devex as a co-sponsor of the campaign and to help advance the conversation about how to prepare the youth of today to become the leaders of tomorrow.

Nowhere is there more potential for change than in the minds of young people around the world.

Recognizing this, on March 3 Devex kicks off Youth Will, a month-long, interactive online campaign exploring the power that youth around the globe have to change the future. Chemonics is proud to join MasterCard FoundationUN Habitat, and the Commonwealth Secretariat as a co-sponsor of the campaign and to advance the conversation about youth.

Throughout the month of March, Devex and its partners will publish stories, commentaries, videos, photos, and more on issues in youth development, with a focus on involving young people in the discussion as much as possible. Each week, the conversation will shift to a different set of issues that are important to youth development, ranging from how the global development community can make learning more accessible to how we can increase youth civic engagement in states with rule of law obstacles.

In addition to deepening the conversation through expert commentaries, stories, and interviews, Chemonics is committed to giving young leaders a voice in the event. On March 17, 11 a.m. – noon (EDT), Chemonics and Devex will host a live Google + Hangout in which Chemonics’ Enrique Betancourt and a handful of young leaders from around the world will explore ways of better engaging youth. The hangout will be part of a week-long digital rally in which the entire global development community is encouraged to engage on social media and host relevant digital events.

Keep an eye on Chemonics’ Twitter account for more information about how to watch the hangout coming soon. Throughout the month, be sure to check out the Youth Will website for useful stories, videos, and commentaries. You can get involved on social media using the hashtag #youthwill.

For 40 years, Chemonics has worked with youth to address their most pressing challenges. Our approach promotes meaningful partnerships, putting host country counterparts and stakeholders — including young people themselves — in the lead to create local solutions to overcome development challenges.
