August 25, 2022 | 2 Minute ReadChemonics welcomes three new board members, bringing new perspectives from its global leadership, as well as leading voices from the private sector.
With an eye to the future, Chemonics International diversified its board of directors, welcoming three new board members to its 10-person board of directors. New members include two Chemonics employee leaders and one transformational corporate leader joining the Corporate Strategy, Audit and Risk, Governance, and Connexi and UK Oversights Committees, and to Chair the Compensation Committee.
Chemonics is a leader in development for one reason: its people. New board members Doina Nistor and Fernando Calado are proven leaders from Chemonics’ global workforce who bring an unparalleled understanding of the communities where they work, as well as how to scale innovations throughout the world. With their unique perspectives, both will serve on the Corporate Strategy Committee, where they will help develop and guide Chemonics’ trajectory.
“I am excited to welcome Doina and Fernando to our board,” said President and CEO Jamey Butcher. “As a mission-driven sustainable development company, we need to continue to ensure that our board members’ views, backgrounds, and experiences reflect those of our diverse global staff along with the clients, customers, and communities we serve. As members of our strategy committee, they will inform the future of our company and help ensure we never lose sight of our mission to help people live healthier, more productive, and more independent lives.”
An experienced economic development leader with more than 15 years of experience building large-scale public-private partnerships, deploying digital transformation, and promoting innovation-based entrepreneurship, Doina Nistor currently leads our Moldova Future Technologies Activity. Fernando Calado leads our Venezuela Response and Integration/Migration Management Activity, where he applies his decades of experience in migration, peacebuilding, human rights, and conflict mitigation.
“Chemonics is doing great as a company,” noted Fernando. “My role as a board member will be to support the company’s vision to continue on this growth path, adapt to the current challenges and changes in development work, and ensure we stick to our mission.”
In addition to these key internal voices, Chemonics also welcomes Andrea Ledford to the board.
“…Andrea [has] strong records of achieving transformational organizational change and advancing company strategies. I look forward to learning from [her] unique viewpoints and experiences to position Chemonics for the future,” said Chemonics Board Chair Susanna Mudge.
Andrea Ledford now chairs the Compensation Committee and serves on the Governance and UK Oversight Committees. She brings deep experience in designing and implementing human resources and corporate programs, mergers and acquisitions integration, change management, organizational design and transformation, employee engagement, compensation and benefit plan design, leadership development, workforce planning and analytics, talent development, and executive recruitment.
At the completion of their terms on the board, Will Keller and Lizann Prosser have stepped down from their board duties. Chemonics thanks them for their dedicated and valuable service.
