After increasing access to education, Senegal is turning its attention to ensuring that all children learn to read in the early grades.
Final Report: Lecture Pour Tous .
Project Report | February 14, 2022
The Lecture Pour Tous Final Performance Report provides an in-depth overview of the program's background, theory of change and objectives, methodology, results and impact, and lessons learned and recommendations for transition and sustainability. The report is intended for all audiences.
The five-year Lecture Pour Tous program, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and completed in December 2021, made marked improvements in early grade reading outcomes in Senegal. The initiative directly supported reform efforts led by the Ministry of Education (Ministère de l’Education Nationale, or MEN) to use evidence-based approaches, including national languages, for reading instruction in the early grades to increase foundational literacy. Implemented by Chemonics International Inc. and consortium partners, Lecture Pour Tous achieved its three expected outcomes:
• Improved early grade reading instruction in public primary schools and daaras
• Improved delivery systems for early grade reading instruction
• Improved parent and community engagement in early grade reading
