For the third consecutive year, the Global Health Supply Chain Technical Assistance Francophone Task Order (GHSC-TA Francophone TO) was honored to celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science by hosting “Women Professionals in Francophone Africa’s Health Supply Chains,” a panel of industry professionals from Francophone Africa, which took place on February 10th, 2023. The panel discussion is in French.

The United Nations General Assembly adopted this day to promote the full and equal access and participation of women and girls in science. It was an opportunity to remember that women and girls play an essential role in the scientific and technological community and that their participation must be strengthened. In terms of the supply chain, gender affects every step of the cycle, from selecting specific products for procurement to ‘last mile’ distribution. By enabling diverse perspectives, experiences, and voices, promoting gender equality in supply chain management can fundamentally improve customer access to quality medical products and technologies.

Our panelists discussed the challenges faced, their advice for other women, and their hopes for the industry’s future. A Q&A session followed the discussion. We were proud to include as panelists:

  • Mylène Adigoun, LMIS Specialist, GHSC-TA Francophone TO, Benin
  • Masseta Soumana Maiga, Supply Chain Technical Advisor, GHSC-TA Francophone TO, Burkina Faso
  • Angelique Gbaguidi, Supply Chain Advisor, GHSC-TA Francophone TO, Benin
