Civil society organizations in Nicaragua need systematic support so they can better represent and advocate for citizens.
Final Report: Capacity Building for Civil Society Advocacy Project .
Project Report | January 31, 2018
The goal of the Capacity Building for Civil Society Advocacy Project (CBCSA) was to provide capacity-building support to Nicaraguan Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and strengthen their ability to advocate for citizens’ demands.
From April 2013 to February 2018, USAID/Nicaragua supported 17 Nicaraguan civil society organizations (CSOs) to strengthen their organizational capacity to better advocate for citizens’ demands through the Capacity Building for Civil Society Advocacy (CBCSA) project. This contributed to achieving USAID/Nicaragua’s Development Objective 1 to increase citizens’ ability to engage in democratic governance. It also increased civil society’s capacity to advocate for transparency and accountability, and strengthened civil society through program activities that support CSOs to raise, manage, and implement funding to achieve their mission objectives. It also enhanced research and economic policy analysis by enabling Nicaragua’s leading research institutes to provide objective, independent information to the public and policy makers. CBCSA was implemented by Dexis Consulting Group and Chemonics.
