Health Systems Strengthening Lead, USAID Pakistan Building Healthy Families Activity Dr. Babar Shaikh

Babar Tasneem Shaikh is a physician with a sound expertise in health systems & policy. He has successfully steered projects funded by several multilateral and bilateral organizations, mainly for strengthening health systems in collaboration with provincial health departments. He has contributed to more than 135 peer-reviewed publications in both national and international indexed journals and currently serves as an adjunct professor at various institutions in Pakistan. In 2016, he was listed among the most productive scientists of Pakistan by the Pakistan Council for Science & Technology, and in 2022 he was recognized by Stanford University among the most cited scientists of Pakistan. In recognition of his work and credentials, the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh and the Royal Society of Public Health have awarded him with fellowships. Dr Shaikh has served as Senior Technical Advisor for the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination and led the National Health & Population Think Tank, where he helped draft Pakistan’s National Health Vision 2016-2025 and several policy briefs on public health and health systems. He holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in public health.
