Chief of Party, Guatemala Biodiversity Program Carlos Morales
Carlos Morales has over 20 years of experience implementing USAID and other donor funded projects in Latin America. He worked for over than ten years in the Guatemalan food industry, developing an exhaustive understanding of the vegetables value chain and strong relationships with producers, suppliers, and international customers. Carlos worked with the World Wildlife Fund from 2002 to 2009 as regional project director, covering topics including environmentally friendly markets and certified products and services, watershed conservation, protected areas and biodiversity management, sustainable forest management, marine conservation and certified fisheries, and climate smart agriculture practices. Since 2009, he has worked with Chemonics as an agriculture value chains specialist and chief of party for various projects related to agroindustry best management practices, watershed management, and environmental and trade agreements. He currently serves as chief of party for the USAID Guatemala Biodiversity Project. Carlos holds a B.A. in biology with specialization in biochemistry and business administration and an M.S. in plant physiology.
