Regional Representative, Middle East and North Africa Alexander Fischer

Based in Beirut, Alex Fischer is a conflict and stabilization professional serving as the Regional Representative for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in Chemonics’ U.K. Division. Alex brings nearly a decade of experience living, studying, and working in the Middle East, including in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, and Turkey, where he has held strategic roles in political affairs, program management, business development, research, and analysis. Having worked previously with the U.S. Department of State and British and American international development consultancy firms, Alex’s targeted experience includes stabilization and transition programming, conflict mitigation and peacebuilding, sub-national governance, civil society engagement, security sector reform, strategic communications, and preventing and countering violent extremism. He holds a bachelor’s degree in international affairs from George Washington University and speaks Arabic and French.
