Senior Safeguarding Manager, Chemonics UK Achini Wijesinghe

Achini Wijesinghe has a strong background in safeguarding and gender equality and social inclusion. She began her career as a community organiser in Colorado, working with people with disabilities — a role that shaped her early dedication to equality and inclusion. She went on to join Chemonics as a Gender Advisor in Sri Lanka, building on her experience with grassroots organisations, international NGOs, and the United Nations Population Fund. Her passion for innovation led her to participate in the UNLEASH Innovation Lab, where she represented Chemonics both as a talent and a facilitator over the years, further deepening her understanding of human-centred design. Achini holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a Master of Arts in International Management.

Achini currently serves as the Senior Safeguarding Manager at Chemonics UK, where she leads efforts in prevention, quality control, capacity building, effective response, and communication regarding safeguarding concerns for Chemonics UK and its programmes.
