News: Launching the Podcast “Countdown to the Sustainable Development Goals”

| < 1 Minute Read

In this series, we look at the future of international development programming and offer recommendations to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Chemonics is proud to launch “Countdown to the SDGs,” a podcast series hosted by our U.S. Government Line President Anna Slother on accelerating progress to achieve the SDGs.

After a series of unprecedented shocks including the COVID-19 pandemic, humanitarian crises, armed conflict, and others, the world is falling short of achieving the 17 goals by 2030. The United Nations Sustainable Goals 2024 Report reveals that less than 20 percent of the SDGs are on track, with more than one third stalled or regressing. With only five years left to achieve them, the global development community must come together to maximize gains and lean into innovative tools and approaches that can help make up for lost time.

In our new podcast, Anna Slother will host a series of conversations with leading experts and practitioners across technical sectors to offer a roadmap to get us back on track to meeting the goals. Food security is a critical aspect of sustainable development by ensuring that everyone has physical and economic access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food. The first episode, now live on Spotify, features Chemonics’ Agriculture and Food Security Global Practice Lead Kate Maldonado and Chief of Party for the USAID Agriculture Growing Rural Opportunities (AGRO) Program in Ukraine Kseniya Sydorkina discussing SDG2: Zero hunger.

Listen now to learn how we can leverage a market-based approach to end hunger, achieve food security and improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.
