Project Report | September 24, 2021
This report summarizes the achievements of the Jordan Cities Implementing Transparent, Innovative and Effective Solutions (CITIES) project, which increased the effectiveness of municipal governance and supported local administration in Jordan.
From 2016 to 2021, the USAID CITIES project increased the effectiveness of municipal governance and responded to the evolving needs of Jordan’s government. It accomplished reforms through an integrated approach: implementing innovative and sustainable solutions to improve service delivery; increasing the sustainability of current municipal operations and local administration; enhancing engagement between community members and the government; fostering community cohesion; and promoting local economic development. CITIES closely coordinated its activities with a broad range of Jordanian stakeholders and beneficiaries. The project followed a horizontal, one-team approach to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across all themes and crosscutting activities. The final report summarizes the achievements of the project, and provides an overview of the lessons learned.
