Senegal is a leader in the West African region as it continues to reform and innovate its health system toward the achievement of universal health coverage (UHC). Healthcare is a right guaranteed in the Senegalese constitution and remains a high political priority for the Government of Senegal. Through the USAID Building a Resilient Health System project in Senegal, Chemonics and its partners support the government to achieve its goal to extend financial protection for health through national health insurance from 23 percent of the population in 2022 to 75 percent by 2026.
