Erik Landemalm
Erik Landemalm oversees the Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) portfolio, leveraging geo-spatial data, satellite image products, and derived data to provide timely food security analysis and early warning to governments. Erik has over 23 years of international experience focused mainly on East and Southern Africa (ESAF) and previously served as Chemonics’ enior vice president for that region. Before this, Erik served as the senior director of operations for ESAF and four years as project director for three complex projects in Somalia. Before joining Chemonics, Erik spent many years in Somalia and East Africa, leading international development projects for various donors, including the European Commission, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, and the United Nations.
Erik holds two bachelor’s degrees in law and political science from Örebro University in Sweden. He also graduated from Arizona State University’s Leadership and Management MiniMasters program.
