Senior Advisor, Practice Eric Viala
Eric Viala is a water resources and irrigation engineer with more than 30 years experience working in over 30 countries. Eric recently served as Chief of Party of the Tajikistan Rural Water Supply Water Activity where he facilitated private public partnerships to engage local entrepreneurs to supply drinking water. He was previously the Chief of Party of the Sustainable Water Partnerships where he developed a water security improvement approach and led teams implementing it in Cambodia, Nepal, Kenya/Tanzania, Burkina Faso, and Niger. He also served as Chief of Party of the Lowland WASH Activity in Ethiopia and the Litani River Basin Support Project in Lebanon. Earlier in his career he was USAID Regional Water Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa where he developed innovative activities to transform water governance by improving water security and increasing water productivity. Eric has also experience working on irrigation, leading the establishment of 600 Water User Associations in Egypt and the rehabilitation of irrigation systems in Afghanistan.
