Zambia Country Director, USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) | Board Member Deogratius Kimera
Deogratius (Deo) Kimera has 25 years of international experience in health systems strengthening, including 17 years leading USAID health supply chain projects as Country Director in Zambia, Ghana, Tanzania, and Botswana. Deo has worked in health supply chain management in Uganda and played a pivotal role in the setup of U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) by supporting the HIV logistics systems in Nigeria under the Global HIV/AIDS Initiative Nigeria project. Deo is a public health specialist and trained pharmacist, with skills in leading supply chain projects for HIV/AIDS, malaria, maternal, newborn, and child health, and family planning. Deo has led development projects since 2007 and is an expert in the core functions of health commodities supply chain management, including forecasting, supply planning, procurement, warehousing and inventory management, distribution, quality assurance, and rational medicine use. Deo holds a pharmaceutical undergraduate degree from Makerere University Medical School and a master’s degree in public health (MPH) and health economics from the University of Cape Town. He has served as a member of the Chemonics International Board of Directors since July 2024.
