Senior Advisor, Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Business Unit Cécile Saborío
Cécile Saborío is a senior advisor for Chemonics’ Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Business Unit. She is an international development leader with 30 years of experience in strengthening institutions and communities that contribute to more democratic and developed societies, with experience in project management, policy analysis, and staff management for U.S. government funded initiatives. Her technical areas of expertise include democracy and governance, human rights, electoral systems and observation, violence prevention, human and institutional capacity development (HICD), rule of law, grants management, and conflict resolution. Cécile has served in various public and private sector positions in Central America and the United States, from working as the Nicaraguan ambassador to El Salvador, to working as deputy chief of mission in the Nicaraguan Embassy in the US, Washington, D.C. She also worked as the chief of party of Democracy and Governance programs in Nicaragua and Honduras, where she led successful programs in sensitive environments. Cécile was also a former member of the Court of Arbitrators of the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague. Cécile holds a law degree from the University of Metz and an LLM from Aix-Marseille University and a Master degree in International Administration from the Sorbonne University in France.
