New senior vice president for global health Julie Becker has built a career as an innovator at the intersection of reproductive health and HIV and will lead the technical strategy and implementation of Chemonics' health programming around the world.

Chemonics International has named Julie Becker as senior vice president of its Global Health Division. Ms. Becker brings 25 years of experience in the nonprofit and private sectors, with on-the-ground experience in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States.  Julie will lead the firm’s portfolio of health-focused projects in more than 19 countries around the world, including a global cooperative agreement that supports countries in developing the fit-for-purpose and fit-to-practice health workforce needed to achieve global health goals. 

Prior to joining Chemonics’ executive management team, Ms. Becker served as executive vice president at Rabin Martin, a global health strategy consulting firm, where she worked at the intersection of the public and private sectors supporting engagements with large foundations and private companies. There she directed a team focused on design, implementation, and evaluation of large-scale programs to reduce the burden of maternal mortality around the world as part of Merck for Mothers, a $500 million corporate responsibility initiative, and led the development of the initiative’s family planning strategy and portfolio of maternal health investments. She managed other engagements related to immunization, women’s health, stakeholder engagement, and health worker capacity building with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and other clients. Previously, Ms. Becker spent nearly 18 years in leadership positions at global health nonprofits, including EngenderHealth, the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, HealthRight International, and International Planned Parenthood Federation.

In her new role, Ms. Becker will oversee and develop the business strategy, management, and technical programming for the Global Health Division which has projects focused on HIV/AIDS, malaria, health supply chains, health systems strengthening, and health workforce capacity building. Ms. Becker has an Sc.M. in public health, behavioral science from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
